impHACt! Fall 2015

What a fantastic summer. The work that we do at Housing America impacts many industries, many businesses and most importantly many people!

We focus exclusively on providing equal opportunity and resources to all, especially affordable housing. It is impossible for me to list all of our valuable partnerships on this page, but I proudly share a few with you.

Our collaboration with WACOG/WACA and their AmeriCorps VISTA Program brought needed resources to our community. With their help Housing America assisted 186 City of Somerton families with utility payments. Our partnership with the US Department of Labor assisted an additional 80 farm laborers with rent and/or utility payments. A special thank you to our Board Secretary Ana Robles for providing services to our elderly and homebound neighbors. We are looking forward to managing these resources again next year.

APS presented us with a much needed donation: a work truck for our maintenance crew. APS also provides financial incentives to our USDA Self Help Program Anna Chaulk, APS and Thomas Ryan, HAC homeowners building Energy Star certified homes.

A generous contribution from the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation will help five families currently working with us to build their home at ROLLOW.

On October 7, 2015 we opened our San Luis office thanks to our partnership with Campesinos Sin Fronteras (CSF). The office is located at 600 Second Street. Every Wednesday from 8 am to 5pm our Self Help Coordinator is available to interview those interested in the program and our ROLLOW subdivision in Somerton.

Housing America will be present at the annual Dia del Campesino on December 5, 2015. Every winter CSF organizes this event to celebrate our communitys farm workers. The events Organizing Committee, which is made up of CSF staff and various community leaders, works hard throughout the year to provide a very special day. More than 5,000 farm workers and their families attend the event to benefit from various free health exams throughout the morning. Please contact CSF at 627-5995 for more information.

Congratulations! (Years of Service)
