Mutual Self-Help Program

Housing America Accepting Applications; No Waiting list!

Housing America Corporation is now recruiting potential homeowners for the next Mutual Self Help group for both the Somerton & Kingman office.

There is no waiting list.  You could be the next participant to build your home and the homes of your neighbors.  Housing America Corporation offers participants the guidance to qualify for a USDA/Rural Development loan and technical assistance throughout construction.  If you want to own your own home, and are willing to work to get it, applications can be picked up at Housing America Corporation, 2515 Kingman Ave (Kingman) or 130 N. The Mutual Self-Help Program is operated in Yuma and Mohave Counties, specifically in the cities of Somerton, San Luis, Wellton and Kingman, Arizona.

The Kingman office delivers a variety of homeownership services in the communities of La Paz and Mohave Counties including the Mutual Self-Help Program, Homeownership Education and Counseling and Multi-Family affordable rental housing for very-low income seniors in Kingman, AZ.

Timeline & Qualification

There is an approximate waiting period of 2 years for the Self Help Housing Program for Yuma County and 2 years for Multifamily housing rentals. Waiting varies depending on availability. To qualify, individuals must be screened and meet income guidelines. In Mohave County , there is an approximate waiting period of six (6) to twelve (12) months for the Self Help Housing Program.

The approximate waiting period for the Homeownership Education Counseling Program is six (6) months. Due to the volume of families wanting counseling, families typically must wait several months to obtain their first appointment to start the process.

The timeline for completion of the counseling program is approximately 17 hours.
