HOUSING AMERICA ANNOUNCES THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TWO NEW PROGRAMS
Released by Housing America Corporation
May. 1st, 2009
Housing America Corporation will put into operation two New Programs funded by the Arizona Department of Housing & the Arizona Housing Finance Authority effective May 1, 2009.
The Federal Stimulus plans have provided opportunities that will allow the Arizona Department of Housing and the Arizona Housing Finance Authority to continue to sustain down-payment and closing cost assistance to eligible borrowers.
As noted in the Arizona Department of Housing NSP Action Plan, the Department will use a portion of its allocation for a deep discount purchase program called "Your Way Home AZ". Further information is available on the Your Way Home AZ website http://yourwayhomeaz.com or contact Housing America Corporation 928-627-4221.
On September 26, 2008, the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced its intent to allocate a total of $3.92 billion to all states and particularly hard-hit areas trying to respond to the effects of high foreclosures. HUD's new Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) will provide targeted emergency assistance to state and local governments to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight within their communities.
The Arizona Housing Finance Authority is implementing a new first-time homebuyer program which will be administered in a streamlined and expedient process. The MCC Plus Homebuyer Down Payment Assistance Program must be used in conjunction with the Mortgage Credit Certificate Program. The MCC will offer assistance in the amount of 5% of purchase price, that can be used as down payment or closing costs. The Mortgage Credit Certificate Program operates as federal income tax credit which reduces the borrower’s income taxes and in effect creates additional income for the borrower. This program is administered by a network of non-profit agencies including Housing America Corporation in all areas of Arizona outside of Maricopa and Pima counties.
